4-7-21 THOUGHTS
Acts 2:30-32 "And so, because he was a prophet and
knew that GOD HAD SWORN TO HIM WITH AN OATH TO SEAT one OF HIS DESCENDANTS ON
HIS THRONE, 31 he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the
Christ, that HE WAS NEITHER ABANDONED TO HADES, NOR DID His flesh SUFFER
DECAY. 32 "This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all
witnesses.
The above is part of that first sermon Peter preached as the Church
began. He borrows from Psalms 16 and secures its place in prophecy
permanently.. It is used several other times in Acts.
Ps 16:1-11 Preserve me, O God, for I take refuge in You. 2
I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord; I have no good besides You."
3 As for the saints who are in the earth, They are the majestic
ones in whom is all my delight. 4 The sorrows of those who have
bartered for another god will be multiplied; I shall not pour out their
drink offerings of blood, Nor will I take their names upon my lips. 5 The
LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You support my lot. 6
The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Indeed, my heritage is
beautiful to me. 7 I will bless the LORD who has counseled me; Indeed,
my mind instructs me in the night. 8 I have set the LORD continually
before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken 9
Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; My flesh also
will dwell securely. 10 For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; Nor
will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay. 11
You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is
fullness of joy; In
Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
But I was not looking for prophecy when I began reading this psalm. I was
drinking in the COMFORT and CONFIDENCE it was providing.
David is extolling God and His supplying.
“ Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken .” I am
personally involved in the psalm right down to verse 10. The announcement
there raises the psalm to present Jesus in prophecy. The blessings
I identify with step up to a higher plain... an eternal plain.
It is a marvelously smooth shift that takes me from the “PERSONAL NOW” to
the ETERNAL CHRIST!
1Cor 1:2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to
those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who
in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and
ours: [compare Ps 16:3]
Eph 1:3 Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly
[places] in Christ,
2Tim 1:9 who has saved us and called us with a holy
calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and
grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,
My Prayer:
O God, we thank you and praise you for your giving of all things in Christ
Jesus. By our submission, may we live in your presence in fulness of joy.
In Jesus name Amen
